» Back to listing RIDDOR Reporting Changes Reminder

8th September 2011

A reminder that from Monday 12 September 2011, statutory reporting to HSE of work-related injuries and incidents under RIDDOR (the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995) will move to a predominantly online system.

Revised online forms aim to make the reporting process quick and easy. Fatal and major injuries and incidents can still be reported to HSE’s Incident Contact Centre by telephone.

Please see http://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/report.htm for the full list of forms, but see some of the links below for information:

  •  Hospitalisation of a person not at work; any accident arising in connection with work that results in injury to a person not at work and requires admittance to hospital must be notified using online form F2508: https://rweb1.nbapp.com/hse/riddor.nsf/F2508
  • Over 3 Day, Major or Fatal Accidents; any event meeting these criteria must be notified to the enforcing authority. In the case of major or fatal accidents the incident contact centre should be immediately informed by telephone on 0845 300 9923. In all cases the event must be officially reported within 10 days by completing online form F2508: https://rweb1.nbapp.com/hse/riddor.nsf/F2508
  • Dangerous Occurences; incidents not resulting in reportable injuries, but that could have clearly done so, may need to be reported as a dangerous occurrence. A full list of dangerous occurrences can be viewed at www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/guidance.htm#dangerous. These must be reported using form F2508DO: https://rweb1.nbapp.com/hse/riddor.nsf/F2508DO
  • Occupational Diseases; RIDDOR regulation 5 requires that certain cases of disease linked with work activities are reported within 10 days by completing online form F2508A: https://rweb1.nbapp.com/hse/riddor.nsf/F2508A. This duty applies when: (i) written diagnosis is received of one of the occupational diseases in column 1 of RIDDOR schedule 3 (Part I); and (ii) the employee’s job involves the corresponding work activity specified in column 2. Schedule 3 of the regulations can be viewed at www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1995/3163/schedule/3/made

In addition, HSE's Infoline telephone information service also ends on 30 September 2011.
