Ergonomics

Ergonomics is defined as the "study of how people work in their environment".

The longer people work within their jobs, the more likely it is that injuries will occur, particularly in repetitious roles, or where heavy lifting is required. Space envelopes, posture and environmental issues can also play a factor.

Over time this can lead to employee complaints, eventually leading to injuries that require reporting to the HSE.

From the perspectives of protecting your employees it makes sense to deal with risks proactively as part of your assessment under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Peak HSE will will assist you with proactive ergonomic assessment, but can also help with intervention when things go wrong.

Assessments can be undertaken of existing or planned workplaces, processes and equipment.

Our specialist is a Registered Member of The Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and holds an MSc in Health Ergonomics.
